Broadbanded!
Finally. Although i don't have a desk and all i do from home is work anyway. So here, look at a picture of me looking surley with the team that built one of the two instruments that i work on.
I know its a crappy photo. I'm not planned enough to have a post ready to go, so i had to make one up on the fly. This is what you get.
We need furniture. What are those tiny rodent-like creatures called that are related to anteaters and their whole life is spent running high-speed around a series of tracks that they must have memorised in order to avoid being eaten by flying predators? My house is like that now, without the flying predators.
And I have developed insomnia. Well, its not really insomnia - not true insomnia, but i wake up at 3 am and stay awake dreaming of being queen of the universe/inventing a new phase of matter/ finding built in wardrobes for less than a thousand bucks, etc. Usually until about 4 or 4.30 am. Its getting on my nerves. I think i need to excercise more, but I also think I'm getting sick.
Mikl is in Japan. I came home early to get broadband installed (hence the posting) and cooked myself some gluten free pasta for lunch. Not impressive on it's own, i know, but get this - i ate the cooked equivalent of 750 g of uncooked pasta with an entire (750 g) jar of pasta sauce and anchovies. I just started eating and could stop. That was at 1.30pm. Its 6.30pm and i don't think I'll ever eat again. What is happening to me?!
Anyway - I'm stressed, as usual. Any ideas for de-stressing?
The new reactor is ofiicially being opened this week - the prime minister is coming out on Friday and tomorrow is the science and buisiness opening. I am an official "ambassador" representing neutron scattering. Should be fun. Or not, whatev. We aren't allowed to eat anything in the official welcoming tent, so poo-bah to them i say.

DUDE, I have spent the last four nights awake ALL NIGHT LONG. And, yeah pretty much dreaming about being the queen of the universe, curing cancer in India, and buying an actual wardrobe (not a chest, a bunch of clothes) with the batrillion dollars I'll have when I start ruing the universe.
So you know what really helps? Try some yoga nidra. It's SO hard to stay awake the whole time, and you'll fall asleep afterwards- a half an hour of it is supposed to be the equivalent of three hours of REM sleep. ANyhoo, go on to iTunes and download this woman's book- Xenia Spalinski or McSpasmo or something. Definitely helps.
I just remembered I have to go buy plane tickets!
So, last night I was heaps Mc tired and slept like a baby - oh, except fo rth epart where I woke up screaming in pain with reflux. I guess that is what happens when one eats the cooked equivaltnt of 750g dry gluten free pasta. I took 2 Nexium tablets, 2 codeine/paracetamol tablets, and drank 100mL of Gaviscon, "perppermint" flavourd - or so they claim. Anyway, i think I was only awake for an hour or so, but I definitely was not queen of the universe last night. Wardrobe is $2800 AUD. WTF!!!!
